We’re in those final few weeks of summer and though it’s starting to get downright cold out here in San Francisco, I know it’s still hot in most parts of the country. I thought I’d post one last warm weather recipe before Fall takes over and share this amazing and super simple recipe with you: my minted iced matcha latte!
This drink is just the greatest – and is so easy to whip together and is just dreamy. Honestly I drink this in the morning and feel instantly energized before I skip out the door. I’ve made this recipe for myself a ton over the past few weeks and it’s been so popular on Instagram that I’m finally getting off my tush and posting it for you all 🙂
Matcha is a traditional Japanese tea that is so incredible because its leaves are powdered, then consumed whole rather than just steeped, in the drink. If you’re looking to cut back on coffee or give it up altogether, this is a great way to go. I used to be a serious coffee addict and cutting coffee out of my routine took a few days to get used to, but I soon felt so much better substitutes like energizing matcha tea helped keep me moving while also alkalizing my body and keeping me in balance. Amazing!
I recommend getting high quality matcha powder over cheaper culinary matcha (better for baking) for the best tea possible. Fresh mint leaf is added in here for a fantastic flavor – the best mint tea I’ve ever had was honestly just hot water and mint leaves – so delicious!
- 1 cup almond milk
- ½ teaspoon matcha tea powder
- 3-4 large ice cubes
- 1-2 tablespoons honey (depending on how sweet you like it)
- 1 large fresh mint leaf
- Just blend them all together on high in your blender, pour into a favorite mug, and enjoy!
